Charlotte loves Chanel: Stylish Monaco royal at Paris Fashion Week

06 JULY 2011

She turned heads in a pale pink satin Chanel dress at the Monaco royal wedding.

And five days later, Charlotte Casiraghi reaffirmed her love affair with the luxury French brand when she turned up at Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris.

The striking royal took a front row seat to watch as Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his new creations for the label in the city's vast glass Grand Palais.

It's likely that Charlotte's invitation was extended by the man himself – Karl is a close friend of the Monagasque royal family, and was one of several celebrity guests at Prince Albert and Princess Charlene's recent nuptials.

Dressed in a sexy black sequinned mini dress, and with a slick of red lipstick, the 24-year-old beauty was joined at the show by fellow fashion enthusiast Tatiana Santo Domingo.

The long-term love of Charlotte's elder brother Andrea, Tatiana, 27, has been a close friend of Charlotte's since the start of her royal romance in 2005.

Other famous guests at the Chanel show included hot Hollywood couple Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson, and, fresh from Kate Moss' nuptials, photographer Mario Testino, who enjoyed an animated chat with Charlotte.

Milla Jovovich and her husband of nearly two years, director Paul W S Anderson, put in a loved-up appearance, while stylish TV beauty Alexa Chung took the opportunity to catch up with the equally fashionable British model Poppy Delevigne.

Bumping along nicely: Carla Bruni on holiday

05 JULY 2011

Since rumours began that she's expecting, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been careful to cover her midriff with loose fitting clothes that would disguise her condition.

But there was no diguising the obvious as she holidayed in the South of France with her husband, French President  Nicolas Sarkozy this week.

The model-turned-singer looked healthy and happy as she strolled along beside the sea with her beloved.

After walking hand-in-hand to a secluded beach in Bormes Les Mimosas, the two went for a peaceful swim in the Mediterranean.

Pal Sarkozy, the President's father, let the pregancy news slip to a German newspaper in May. The ecstatic grandfather-to-be revealed that the couple do not wish to know the sex of the baby.

He is sure, however that his granchild will be a girl "as beautiful as Carla."

Emma's final magic trick - a scene-stealing mini for Potter photocall

07 JULY 2011 The end is in sight for millions of Harry Potter fans as the last film in the series gets ready for its world premier.

Thousands have camped out overnight in Trafalgar Square, central London, with fans coming from as far afield as Canada and Sweden ahead of the first screening of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II.

Meanwhile, the many from the cast gathered at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel to pose for one final pre-film photocall.

While all the cast looked sharp, Emma Watson stole the show in a short, black, lacy dress. The star completed the look with towering heels and a chic hairstyle.

The stars of the eight film saga have recently been opening up to the media about their experiences over the years.

At a press conference on Wednesday night, Emma Watson said playing Harry's sidekick Hermione Granger had changed her life.

"Hermione's been like my sister. She feels so real to me," the 22-year-old actress admitted. "I will miss being her. That is devastating. She has pushed me and made me a better person."

But Ralph Fiennes has revealed he could not wait to take off Lord Voldemort's heavy robes. The Oscar-nominated actor said: "It was an irritating costume to wear - it was too long and sometimes I would trip over."

Rupert Grint had been dreading his highly-anticipated kiss with co-star Emma. He described the filming as "really weird" because they had known each other for so long.

He told Daybreak: "It sounds crazy because of course she's lovely and I'm sure loads of guys are just really jealous, but it just really felt weird for some reason.

"Just because I've known her for so long - since she was like nine years old."

Rupert  also confessed all three of the film's main stars burst into tears as they filmed the final scenes in the long-running series.

He said: "We kind of knew it was coming and building up to that final week, and yes, it was just like ten years - my whole childhood - came down to this tiny little scene and that was it.

"It was really sad, we all cried. It was kind of seeing Dan and then Emma cry that triggered me, and it was kind of this weird mix of emotions really - it's hard to describe."

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert and Emma are expected to attend the premiere. As are dozens of other regulars including Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton and Alan Rickman.

Fans, many of them dressed as wand-wielding characters from the series, could be in for a stormy time as the film looks set to make its debut in traditional fashion - to the accompaniment of thunder and rain.

Its stars have got used to squelching along the red carpet after being caught in a succession of torrential downpours before premieres in London's Leicester Square.

The 2009 premiere of Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince saw soaked stars Rupert , Daniel and Emma posing for pictures in the pouring rain while fans sheltered under Harry Potter umbrellas.

The same thing happened in 2007 at the first night of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square will be transformed by a touch of Potter wizardry for the day. The road joining the two sites will be transformed into Diagon Alley - the high street which is home to shops selling the latest in magic for Harry and his fellow wizards.

The film goes on general release on July 15.

Kate and Jamie thank locals after marathon wedding

04 JULY 2011 Newlyweds Kate Moss and Jamie Hince made a grand exit when they were air-lifted out of the Cotswolds by helicopter.

The cover girl's going away outfit was a cream Stella McCartney suit.

And the wedding after-party was a massive success - many of the A-list guests celebrated until the early hours of the morning.

The best 'man', Jamie's female bandmate Alison Mosshart (below), also entertained the crowd with the traditional speech that sufficiently embarrassed the groom.

Despite the lack of sleep, friends such as Jude Law (below), Sadie Frost, Jade Jagger and Meg Mathews made it for lunch as the wedding weekend came to a close.

They met the groom at The Swan pub in nearby Southrop the following day.

Kate and Jamie's wedding was an affair that lasted three days.

Grateful for the patience of locals over the celebration dubbed 'Moss-stock', the couple had a bottle of Moet champagne delivered to each household in their village.

Although the price of the marathon celebration has not been released, it's estimated to have cost around £1 million.

The location of the honeymoon also remains unknown.

It's reported that the happy couple were headed either to Africa or Thailand for an adventurous getaway.

Conquering Canada the Cambridge way

02 JULY 2011

Wherever they go the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge win over those they meet with their charm.

The rapturous reception they've received across the Atlantic is testament to their universal appeal.

But it's not just the couple's approachability, or even Kate's sartorial style, that's made them such a hit.

The newlyweds are clearly very much in love and more than anything enjoy spending time in each other's company as was clear at Friday's Canada Day concert.

Despite joining some 100,000 people on Parliament Hill for the music event, the happy couple only had eyes for each other.

They exchanged loving glances as they smiled and applauded the pop acts, and frequently leant in to make comments to one another.

William and his wife enjoyed the concert for half an hour before leaving to attend a private event.

Kate looked radiant in a vibrant purple Issa jersey dress, which she teamed with black satin court shoes and a matching clutch bag.

She was still sporting the glittering marple leaf brooch lent her by the Queen for the tour.

Prince William looked dapper in a navy suit and a crisp white shirt.

Their stay in Ottawa is just the beginning of the nine-day North America tour in which they will visit several cities across the Commonwealth nation and its neighbour.

Prince cooks up a storm with a souffle lesson

03 JULY 2011 You don't become a top flight search and rescue pilot without having a competitive side.

And it seems Prince William, a Sea King helicopter operator, found it hard to leave his behind – even in a cooking class.

On his tour of Canada with the Duchess of Cambridge, the royal participated in what he described as a 'souffle-off' with Quebec's Premier Jean Charest.

The Prince was invited to try his hand at making a lobster souffle at the Institut de tourisme et d’hotellerie du Quebec, a top chef school.

Comparing his effort with the politician's, he boasted: "Much better! This one is mine."

William, who donned chef's whites for the culinary test, went on to tease his host with a terrible pun.

"If you could rise to the challenge that would be great," he told him.

Sporty spice: Geri Halliwell makes a splash in Sardinia as she holidays with Henry

05 JULY 2011

Coasting along the Mediterranean sea, Geri Halliwell is clearly no amateur when it comes to riding the waves.

The 38-year-old, currently on holiday in Sardinia with beau Henry Beckwith, impressed with her water skiing skills as she headed out of the coast of Porto Cervo this week.

Showing real determination and balance, Geri managed to stay upright as she sped through the surf, pulled along by a motor boat.

The fun was captured on video camera by aristocrat Henry, who was later filmed by Geri as he tried his hand at the water sport.

Not content to just lounge around on their holiday, the couple got things moving the previous day with a round of mini golf in the grounds of their luxury hotel.

And it wasn't just Geri's putting prowess on display – so too was her tanned and toned figure, showcased in a white floral bikini.

The mum-of-one and Henry, 32, arrived in the Sardinian resort of Porto Cervo last week.

They are staying at the same hotel visited by Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy last month on their pre-wedding holiday.

Last month, Geri enjoyed three weeks in San Tropez with her four-year-old daughter Bluebell.

She and Henry – cousin of socialite Tamara Beckwith - enjoyed a winter break in Miami in February and in January headed to the slopes for a snowboarding break in the French Alps.

The couple have been dating since March 2009, following Geri's brief engagement to Italian tycoon Fabrizio Politi.

The caring Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise visit on Wednesday to a town almost entirely reduced to ashes by forest fires two months ago.

They went on to meet families affected by the fires and offered kind words of comfort.

'We're hoping to start a family,' admits broody Duchess

04 JULY 2011 The Duchess of Cambridge is seen stopping to admire a gorgeous toddler during a walkabout in Quebec City.

She was offered a bouquet by the two-year-old daughter of British expat David Cheater.

Kate smiled at the youngster named Raffaela and laid a hand on her head, telling her father: “What a beautiful daughter you have”.

And when David wished the duchess luck in her own efforts to start a family, she thanked him, adding: “Yes, I hope to”.

She was clad in her first outfit of the day, a nude-hued Vanessa dress by Joseph paired with her trusty nude platforms.

It is the first time Kate has spoken publicly about having children, although shortly after Prince William proposed, he revealed that they plan on starting a family.

The walkabout came on day four of their official North American tour, after they donned chef’s whites for a cookery lesson in Montreal.

And the pair later attended a Freedom of the City Ceremony outside City Hall.

William was met with warm applause when he gave a short speech in French, thanking his audience for their “patience" with his accent, and promising to return.

The next stop was a project for young homeless people.

Kate had made a quick outfit change into an Erdem number. The electric blue Jacquenta dress featured floral lace applique across the shoulders and sleeves and a split skirt.

She accessorised with nude patent platform shoes and a matching mock-croc clutch bag.

It was the second time she'd worn a design by the Canadian-born British creator. On arrival in Ottawa last week, the Duchess was in a lacy number of his that also won plaudits.

At the drop in centre the couple managed to win themselves another fan - a punk with blue and green hair named Pierre.

A circus skills student, he was thrilled when the Duke described his juggling as “awesome”.

The 24-year-old, who was living on the streets before the centre helped him find a home, was eager to praise the newlyweds, saying it was “special to meet them, a privilege”.

They were shown around the centre by Steven, 21, who wore a bullet through his earlobe.

Competitive Prince William took Steven on in a game of table football, shouting “Come on the claret and blue”, in a reference to Aston Villa, the football team he supports.

George is not gay - he just won't get married - says close friend

07 JULY 2011

Since George Clooney's split with Elisabetta Canalis, rumours have been flying about the reason for the break up.

Some of the sniping has even gone as far as suggesting that the relationship was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

The most lurid accusation is that the romance was a cover up for a secret life.

Now, George's friends have had enough and one has spoken out.

Manuele Malenotti, who owns clothing firm Belstaff, says the couple were very much for real, and broke up for the simple reason that George did not want to get married and have children.

"I can tell you George is not gay," he told Italian magazine Chi.

"I have known George for ten years, I have spent a lot of time with him and a lot of women have passed through his life."

On the subject of Elisabetta, he says: "I know about their relationship because I was the one who got them together."

"George wanted to meet Elisabetta and he asked me to make the introductions.

"I did as he asked but inside I always knew that it wouldn't last – to be honest I was expecting it.

"You will have to ask them for all the specific reasons.

"All I can say is that George, when it comes to love, has decided that he is not going to get married again and he is not going to have any children and he won't change his mind."

Manuele, (pictured below with another of Geroge's exes Lisa Snowdon) says Elisabetta and the actor had an intense romance.

"To suggest it was a publicity stunt is a lie," he says.

"I introduced them, I saw them together and I can say that their love story was very intense. In two years they shared numerous moments.

"He opened the doors of his life to her, introducing her to his friends and family. I totally exclude that it was all made up."

After the couple's split, Elisabetta headed home to her native Sardina for some time out of the spotlight.

This week she sparked rumours she may have already moved on – back into the arms of a former love.

Pictures surfaced of the 32-year-old model and TV presenter holidaying on a yacht off the Amalfi Coast with her ex-boyfriend Angelo Vita.

Blooming lovely: Marriage and impending motherhood agree with Lily

07 JULY 2011

Our first glimpse of Lily Allen's baby bump came on her wedding day.

Her proud new husband Sam Cooper announced to delighted guests that the star was more than 12 weeks along.

And if Lily's big smile wasn’t enough of a confirmation, her burgeoning tummy, just visible beneath her lace bridal gown, certainly was.

One month later and the singer's figure is blossoming.

Lily was spotted on a shopping trip at the Dolce and Gabbana store in London this week.

Barefaced and glowing with a natural beauty, she looked radiant as she stepped out in an embroidered white smock tunic.

The beaming 25-year-old protectively placed her hand over her tummy on the shopping excursion.

Lily's joy is all the more poignant, coming months after the tragic loss of her unborn baby boy, six months into a previous pregnancy.

But now she is clearly enjoying the road to motherhood – as well as married life with Sam.

Fans tweet congratulations to Victoria, but there is no baby yet

05 JULY 2011

It had been widely thought that Victoria Beckham would welcome her new baby on July 4, by Caesarean section.

And on Monday fans took to Twitter to send congratulations to the former Spice Girl on the birth of her daughter.

Rumours were even flying around that the new arrival had been named Felicity and weighed in at 5lbs 8oz.

But the reports were wide of the mark.

David Beckham's publicist Simon Oliveira stepped in to set the story straight.

"Contrary to certain reports, David and Victoria Beckham's baby is not due today and that was never the case," he tweeted on Monday.

No date has been confirmed, but the baby is expected to be born in LA in the next week or so.

Meanwhile Victoria, who has been keeping a low profile in the last few months, has ruled out any naked photo shoots to show off her figure during pregnancy.

"I'm not really one of those people that likes to go out and pose and flaunt being pregnant," she said.

"Not like there's anything wrong in that.

"I'm so proud to be pregnant and I feel so blessed and so happy, I really do.

"But I'm just not that kind of person. So, no, I won't be taking my clothes off.

"I don't think anyone needs to see that, other than my husband. Absolutely not."

While her bump hasn't been on show, Victoria's baby can expect to attract attention from day one following the news that  former Spice Girl has already stocked her wardrobe.

"I love the French clothes for little girls. I like little girls to look like little girls," the 37-year-old told Women's Wear Daily.

Her footballer husband David has also enjoyed seeing his daughter's wardrobe take shape.

"It's a whole new different thing for us. To have so much pink in the house, lilac in the house, and dresses," he told the Daily Mirror.

"All the clothes are ready, the room's ready. We're really excited."

Singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria intends to balance motherhood with her career.

"As any working mum out there knows, it really is like juggling glass balls when you've got the kids and a husband to look after, and you're passionate about your career," she says.

Cheryl Cole spotted kissing her ex Ashley at birthday

04 JULY 2011 She told Piers Morgan that a part of her would always love her husband, despite his betrayal.

And it seems Cheryl Cole might be ready to forgive Ashley Cole and let him back into her life.

The Chelsea footballer was spotted kissing his former wife at her 28th birthday party on Friday, and he has told his friends he intends to remarry her.

They apparently spent the night together after the Geordie beauty's party at London's Sanderson hotel, which is said to have cost £20,000.

Fellow guests included Cheryl's Girls Aloud bandmates Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh and her pal from the Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am.

According to reports, Cheryl - who looked pretty in a Stella McCartney dress and new blonde hairstyle – started secretly dating Ashley again three months ago.

They resumed contact long before her unsuccessful stint as a judge of the American X Factor, covertly meeting at his brother Matty's house.

Then after she returned to Britain, the pop star spent the night at their former marital home Godalming, Surrey.

A source told The Daily Mirror: "They got back together because they want children and they could not live without each other."

"They've never been happier.

"Ashley has got his wife back, and this time it’s for keeps.

"He has learned from his mistakes and knows he messed up but he’s promised Cheryl he will change."

It's been nine months since the couple divorced. Back then, the singer spoke about the end of her marriage during an emotional interview with Piers Morgan.

"Looking back on it, I feel numb. We had a great marriage and a fantastic wedding day but I don't know where it went wrong," she told the interviewer.

Visibly upset, she added: "I just don’t have the answers. None. He was my best friend and we were so happy. Our marriage was so strong.

"Part of me will always love him. We used to be so close but I was heartbroken."

Besotted Nicole and Keith thrilled with family life

06 JULY 2011 There's no place like home, or so the saying goes.

Certainly, a trip back to their motherland seems to have left Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban on top of the world.

The couple couldn't have looked happier as they arrived at Sydney airport with their two adorable girls Faith and Sunday Rose.

Proud mum Nicole – elegant for the flight back to the US in cream trousers, a camel-hued trench and snakeskin boots - showered six-month-old baby Faith in kisses and cuddles.

The little girl – who seems to have inherited her mum's auburn hair - was cute as a button in a pink two-piece and white booties.

Keith, meanwhile, took charge of Sunday – equally adorable in a green, patterned dress - leading her by the hand into the airport.

During their time back in Australia, the couple had an early birthday party at Nicole's parents' house for the toddler, who turns three on July 7.

Keith has a concert booked in Pennsylvania on his daughter's actual birthday.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife Maria files for divorce

02 JULY 2011 Six weeks after Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed he had fathered a child out of wedlock, his wife Maria Shriver has filed divorce papers to end their 25-year marriage.

The former television journalist cited irreconcilable differences, but offered no additional details about the break up.

She didn't list the date of the separation, although it became public knowledge on May 9.

A week later, the former California governor and one-time action star admitted he fathered a child with their housekeeper Mildred Baena 13 years ago.

The filing, which Maria signed nearly two weeks ago, signals an end to a union that began with a fairytale wedding on a spring day in 1986 in Cape Cod.

The couple do not appear to have had a premarital agreement.

That means the actor's earnings from his Hollywood career, which allowed him to forgo a salary as governor and commute by private jet to Sacramento, will probably be evenly divided with his estranged wife.

Maria is seeking spousal support but any amount would be determined later, either through a settlement agreement or by a judge. The divorce is expected to be handled mostly behind closed doors.

Maria, a member of America's historical Kennedy family, has received a lot of support from A-list friends and from those she's met through her philanthropic work.
