David Cassidy Strikes Deal in DUI Case

2/16/2011 12:30 AM PST by TMZ Staff   David Cassidy will not go to jail for his DUI arrest in Florida back in November -- but he will lose his driving privileges for the next 6 months ... TMZ has learned.

Court officials confirm ... Cassidy has agreed to enter a no contest plea during a hearing this afternoon.

We're told in exchange for the plea ... Cassidy will be sentenced to one year probation, his license will be suspended for 6 months and he will be required to complete 50 hours of community service.

Cassidy must also pay around $500 in fines, complete an alcohol education course -- and attend a DUI "victim impact panel" ... where people who have been affected by drunk drivers will tell their stories.

As TMZ reported, Cassidy failed a breathalyzer test on November 3 after state troopers saw David weaving off the road in his Mercedes around 8 PM.

Dr. Murray Dodged Wrongful Death Lawsuit in 2007

2/16/2011 12:45 AM PST by TMZ Staff   Michael Jackson wasn't the first patient to die while in Dr. Murray's care -- in fact, TMZ has learned MJ investigators spoke with the son of a former Murray patient who BLAMES the doc for killing his dad in a botched surgery. 

Months after MJ's death, LAPD detectives spoke with Gerard White -- whose father died 6 days after Dr. Murray operated on his heart in Las Vegas back in 2007. 

White told investigators Murray not only botched the surgery and ripped a hole in his dad's heart -- but he failed to recognize obvious, tell-tale signs that his patient was fatally wounded.

Gerard told investigators he and his family contacted a lawyer to go after Dr. Murray -- but they couldn't find an attorney who would take the case because there wasn't enough money to be made.

Gerard also said that after his father died, Murray did "exactly what he's doing in the Jackson case" ... because he never attempted to speak with his family members about the situation. 

Murray's rep tell TMZ Gerard's story is "hearsay and totally unsubstantiated."

The rep adds, "Murray has medical insurance for lawsuits. If an attorney thought Gerard White had a case he surely could have been paid.  The fact that White couldn’t find a lawyer to take the case tells me White's claims most likely had no merit."

Faith Evans Cuts Deal in DUI Case

11/29/2010 11:51 AM PST by TMZ Staff   Faith Evans -- a singer who was married to the Notorious B.I.G. -- has been sentenced to 36 months of probation after copping a plea in her DUI case ... TMZ has learned.

Evans -- who was popped in L.A. back in August -- was facing 2 counts of DUI ... but worked out a deal with prosecutors in which she agreed to plead "no contest" to the lesser charge of reckless driving instead.

Besides the probation, Evans must also pay $300 in fines, complete a 3-month alcohol program and must not drive with any measurable amount of alcohol in her system.

Frankie Muniz & GF -- Cozy Date After Gun Incident

Multiple people close to the couple tell us the former "Malcolm in the Middle" star and Elycia Turnbow spent a romantic evening at the Martini Ranch bar in Scottsdale on Saturday night and seemed “completely carefree.”

The romance continued just a few days later -- when Frankie organized a special Valentine's Day dinner for the couple ... and even sent out a tweet that read, "The table's all set for Valentine's Day dinner … I love @elyciamarie”

As TMZ first reported, cops responded to a domestic incident at Frankie's home on Friday night -- with  Elycia telling police Frankie attacked her and then held a gun to his own head.

Deftones Cancel Bangkok Concert -- Fans RIOT

2/16/2011 5:45 AM PST by TMZ Staff   Angry Deftones fans went on a violent RAMPAGE in Thailand last night -- setting fires outside the venue -- when the rock band canceled a show more than an hour after they were scheduled to perform.

Furious concertgoers smashed a beer garden outside the Thunderdome arena in Bangkok -- after organizers announced the show had to be canceled due to electrical problems.

Cops arrived to the scene to stop the madness -- but no arrests were made. The Deftones have since issued an apology on their website.

Bruno Mars Cuts Deal in Coke Possession Case

2/16/2011 8:45 AM PST by TMZ Staff   Bruno Mars just formally pled guilty today to possession of a controlled substance.

Mars was in a Las Vegas courtroom with his lawyer, Blair Berk, when Mars pled guilty to felony cocaine possession, but if he stays out of trouble for 12 months, the charge will be dismissed -- as if it never happened.

Mars is also required to do 8 hours of private counseling and 200 hours of community service with a charitable organization.  He must also pay a $2,000 fine -- which he's paying today ... because he has Bruno Mars money.

Berk tells TMZ, "We are very pleased  that the prosecution has agreed to dismiss the charge."

As we previously reported, Bruno was arrested in September at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino after a bathroom attendant told security a man was doing coke in the bathroom.

Sources tell TMZ, Peniche and her boyfriend Justin Williams were married by spiritual guru Shaman Durek -- an L.A.-based "spiritual guide and gifted healer" -- and it all went down at a non-denominational chapel in San Diego.

We’re told the reception was in a penthouse overlooking downtown SD -- where about 100 guests chowed down on a fancy SEVEN-COURSE French dinner.

Road Rage Could Be Trigger in Publicist Murder

43 minutes ago by TMZ Staff   Sources connected with the criminal probe into the Ronni Chasen murder tell TMZ Ronni had a temper and road rage is a scenario cops are seriously investigating.

We're told cops are interested in the road rage theory as it relates to the suicide of the man last night who was the object of a search warrant connected to the murder.

TMZ has learned ... the man who shot himself in the head is HAROLD MARTIN SMITH.

Although there are reports Smith is a suspect in the murder of Ronni Chasen, we're told that label is based on LAPD sources, and the Beverly Hills PD is only considering him a person of interest.

Nevertheless, sources tell us the BHPD is actively investigating Smith to determine if he was in the Beverly Hills area the night of the murder.

And, we're told, as far as Smith goes, money was not the motive.  Although Smith talked about getting $10,000, we're told that was in connection with a civil lawsuit.

So far, we're told, there's no physical evidence linking Smith to the killing, but cops are actively investigating.

Oksana Extortion Case Goes to the D.A.

The case file went to the D.A.'s office at noon today.

As we first reported, it's all over a $15 million deal Oksana signed -- and then rejected -- during child custody mediation in May, 2010. The deal included child support, a house, and other assets ... plus the guarantee that Oksana would NOT release the audio tapes of Mel's now infamous rants.

The D.A. will now determine if Oksana will be charged with a crime.

Inspirational 'Idol' Raises $27K For Disabled Fiancee

2/16/2011 12:20 AM PST by TMZ Staff   Ever since "American Idol" hopeful Chris Medina revealed his financial struggles after a car accident left his fiancee partially paralyzed ... the couple has received thousands of dollars in donations ... TMZ has learned.

We're told the money began pouring in from caring "Idol" fans after Chris explained how the couple was barely managing to cover the exorbitant medical bills. So far, we're told the donations have hit the $27,000 mark.

But the generosity isn't all in cash -- a local air conditioning and heating company donated a $4,000 furnace to Medina after hearing his heater was on the fritz. The company -- King Heating and A/C -- even installed it free of charge.

Chris is pretty stoked -- in fact, he plans to perform at the store as payback whenever his schedule opens up post-"Idol."

Barker, Dyrdek and Shane Victorino are just some of the stars helping out -- we're told a bunch of celebs are also pitching in.

As for the BMXers -- Lavin is recovering slowly at home. Pinney is currently at a rehab therapy center in Vegas.

Octomom: Pay Up or Get Out!

Amer Haddadin says he's been plenty understanding when Nadya Suleman fell behind in making her monthly payments.  A $450,000 balloon payment has been looming over Octo for months -- it becomes due every time she falls behind in making payments.

But Amer says she's fallen behind again and now he's had it.  So Amer tells TMZ he just served Octo's lawyer with a letter demanding she pay the full $450,000 balance plus interest by December 31 or get out of her La Habra home.

Octo has been saying for months ... she's broke. 

Something's gotta give.

Halle Berry Wins Latest Round in Custody War

50 minutes ago by TMZ Staff   Halle Berry just emerged from court victorious in her custody battle with Gabriel Aubry ... TMZ has learned ... because a judge just gave her the green light to go across country with her toddler to shoot a movie.

Sources tell TMZ ... Gabriel was trying to block Halle from going to NYC to shoot "New Year's Eve" -- the movie from which she withdrew in order to deal with her custody issues over Nahla.

After hearing arguments this morning from both sides -- as Halle looked on -- the judge gave her the green light to travel to New York with her kid.  We've learned she won't take back the role that was given to Katherine Heigl, but she'll play another character in the movie.

Halle's lawyer, Neal Hersh, tells TMZ, "We are pleased the judge took the time to deal with this very imminent and important issue.  The judge read a great deal of paperwork and gave us time to argue." 

Hersh added, "Halle is very pleased with the judge's order."

We're told Halle is going to NYC soon, but not this week.

As for Gabriel, he has withdrawn his custody petition -- which is public -- but he's continuing his war by filing a paternity action.  Paternity cases are not open to the public.

Bottom line ... it's a bitter dispute, but Halle won this battle.

But sources close to Chad -- who's engaged to "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada -- tell us Ochocinco is adamant the woman is merely giving birth to a BS rumor ... because the two have never, ever met in person.

We're told Ocho exchanged some Twitter messages with the woman more than a year ago ... but insists nothing ever came from it.

When we called Ocho to ask about the story -- he simply told us, "Child, please."

Michael Lohan -- I Booked Lindsay on Letterman

2/16/2011 10:15 AM PST by TMZ Staff   Michael Lohan has revealed HE is the mystery person who booked Lindsay Lohan on "Letterman" this week ... and tells TMZ he only signed her up after getting the green light from Lindsay herself.

In case you haven't heard -- Letterman had to issue a retraction this morning, explaining Lindsay would not be doing the "Top 10" bit on Thursday as they had announced yesterday -- after Lindsay tweeted that she NEVER agreed to do the show.

Letterman's people released a statement explaining how someone "purporting to be a friend of Lindsays" reached out to them and made the booking ... but Dave's camp didn't reveal the name of the friend.

But Michael says he was behind it -- telling TMZ he got the idea after Dave cracked a joke at Lindsay's expense during Friday's "Top 10" ... and Lindsay was into it. 

Michael says Lindsay "knew full well" about the booking ... they even discussed transportation from the L.A. studio, where Lindsay would be doing the bit via satellite.

Michael insists everything was going smoothly  -- until Lindsay's reps got wind of the appearance and shut it down.

Now, Michael tells us he's pissed -- adding, "Anything positive that I bring into her life ... [her people] try to nix it."

The Niece Ronni Chasen Stiffed Sings Her Praises

Lara Logan -- I'm Going Back to Work

Sources familiar with the situation tell us the details of Logan's assault are horrible -- but Lara is back with her kids and is vowing to go back to work within weeks.

One source tells us Lara has an "incredibly tough constitution" -- and she is candidly discussing what happened to her. As one friend said, "She is going to be OK."

Ronni Chasen Left Millions of Dollars in Her Will

12/2/2010 12:15 PM PST by TMZ Staff   TMZ has just obtained a copy of murdered publicist  Ronni Chasen's will and other documents -- which estimate the value of her estate at $6.1 million ... and she intentionally stiffed one of her relatives.

 

In the document, dated June 10, 1994, Ronni left her playbill collection and other memorabilia to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, provided when it's publicly exhibited she gets credit -- "from the collection of Ronni Chasen."

Chasen was charitable, leaving $20,000 to Hole in the Wall Gang Fund, Inc., $10,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation International, $5,000 to Women's Cancer Research Foundation, $5,000 to the American Film Institute, $2,500 to the Gilda Radner Cancer Program and $5,000 to the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

According to supporting documents, another will was prepared for Chasen in 2006, but it has not yet been located.  Lawrence Cohen, Chasen's brother who is applying to be the special administrator, says he believes the will may be in a safe deposit box.

 

In the 1994 will, Chasen left 3/4 of her estate to her mother, but her mom since died.  Given her mom's death, her niece, Melissa Cohen, gets a huge chunk of money and the charities listed above get a substantial amount of money as well.

And small amounts of money go to Big Sister Volunteers of Los Angeles, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 

Apparently Chasen did not like one of her nieces much -- she gives $10 to Jill Gatsby, stating, "I have intentionally and with full knowledge of the consequences omitted to provide for my niece, Jill Cohen, also known as Jill Gatsby, except for the gift of $10."

A suspect in the murder of Ronni Chasen, the Beverly Hills publicist who was murdered on the streets of Beverly Hills, shot himself dead Wednesday after cops confronted him.

The suspect -- known as Harold -- had been under surveillance for some time by the Beverly Hills Police Department, according to the Los Angeles Times.

He was living at the Harvey Apartments in Hollywood, which is where cops found him late Wednesday. With search warrant in hand, cops told Harold to raise his hands.  Harold refused, and shot himself in the head.  He died at the scene.

It's unclear if cops suspected Harold was the shooter or an accomplice. According to The Times, Harold had told a neighbor he was supposed to be getting $10,000 soon.

A neighbor told KABC-TV Harold bragged that he "offed her" and got paid for it.



Harold had allegedly served prison time for firearms and drug violations.

Real tough, mean and nasty......right up until the Police comes for you. Then.....like every person who isn't brave enough to meet someone face to face and give them a chance......they punk out and kill themselves. If he played a part in her death then killing himself will be (I hope) the beginning of what he deserves.

This sounds like a movie and long Vanity Fair article in the making. The thing is, the police imply that the shooter had to be really good to hit her while she was driving. Was this guy a trained shooter? Did he just know too much about something? Who would want the agent killed?

"Someone" who is very powerful probably said," If the cops come looking for you your a dead man, because that means you didn't do your job". He just decided not to have to live in fear of when it would happen and someone takes him out. I too think that maybe there might be something to the Quaids talking about a Star Wacker.

Tony Parker & Eva Longoria -- Table for Two Exes

12/2/2010 3:00 AM PST by TMZ Staff   Tony Parker and Eva Longoria reunited for a lunch date in L.A. on Wednesday -- two weeks after she filed to divorce him in Cali ... which was followed by Tony's own filing in Texas.  Awwwwkward.

They met on neutral ground ... at a hotel in the L.A. area. Tony was in town because his San Antonio Spurs played the Clippers last night -- but based on Eva's gestures and Tony's expressions ... we're guessing there was little hoops strategy discussed.

No lawyers were present to split the bill.

Judge to Cheech -- You Are NOT a Threat

2/16/2011 12:05 PM PST by TMZ Staff   Cheech Marin may be "rude" ... but he doesn't pose a real physical threat to his ex-wife -- this according to an L.A. County Superior Court judge who refused to issue a restraining order against the actor.

Cheech's ex-wife Patti Heid had requested protection from the court -- after claiming Cheech screamed, "F**k you" at her during an intense property dispute recently. She also claimed Cheech had roughed her up in the past.

But the judge denied her request yesterday -- claiming there was no proof that Cheech ever acted in a threatening manner.

Cheech tells TMZ, "It feels good to be vindicated by the judicial system. I wish my ex-wife well ... just not next door to me, where she lives now."
