A suspect in the murder of Ronni Chasen, the Beverly Hills publicist who was murdered on the streets of Beverly Hills, shot himself dead Wednesday after cops confronted him.
The suspect -- known as Harold -- had been under surveillance for some time by the Beverly Hills Police Department, according to the Los Angeles Times.
He was living at the Harvey Apartments in Hollywood, which is where cops found him late Wednesday. With search warrant in hand, cops told Harold to raise his hands. Harold refused, and shot himself in the head. He died at the scene.
It's unclear if cops suspected Harold was the shooter or an accomplice. According to The Times, Harold had told a neighbor he was supposed to be getting $10,000 soon.
A neighbor told KABC-TV Harold bragged that he "offed her" and got paid for it.
Harold had allegedly served prison time for firearms and drug violations.

They must know who felt it worth 10 grand to have her dead. Also who knew her driving patterns and schedule right up to where and when she'd be that night. Someone stood to gain.

Was he a retired military sniper?

Condolances to her family.
Can you say movie of the week, Law and Order, CSI? Countless tabloid stories. Yammering talking heads. So much art and money will be made from this tragic tale.

I have to think twice about this story.. he just offed himself like that and left the idea he was the the killer.. this can truly be the beginning to a very bizarre story and maybe the next Black Dahila murder.. hollywood murders. It's a very sad event to happened to anyone, RIP Ronnie.. they'll catch the real culprit!

"Was the shoot or an accomplice"?
Shooter. Shooter. Don't head down the same path as Perez Hilton. He's inept enough.

Glad justice was served for him to be dead, just wish we knew who put him up to this. Horrible crime, just 10k to kill, sad very very sad. He wasn't even worth a penny. Well no long stupid trial to waste the courts time for him. Hope he is thrown in garbage and no buriel given!!! Straight to hell you guy focker!!!!

"harold" probably took part in murder plot ... i have a feeling that dead woman knew too much about very powerful (gay) people and their secret affairs... she wanted to exposed them and got killed.

Real tough, mean and nasty......right up until the Police comes for you. Then.....like every person who isn't brave enough to meet someone face to face and give them a chance......they punk out and kill themselves. If he played a part in her death then killing himself will be (I hope) the beginning of what he deserves.

Has anyone thought to connect the Randy Quaid rantings and this event?
Posted at 5:37 AM on Dec 2, 2010 by dbear10.
ITA with #9, this may be the Star Wacker Randy's running from.
This sounds like a movie and long Vanity Fair article in the making. The thing is, the police imply that the shooter had to be really good to hit her while she was driving. Was this guy a trained shooter? Did he just know too much about something? Who would want the agent killed?

Harold more afraid of the ones paying 10K then speaking to the police about Chasen's murder? There went the cops chance of finding out the killerS' true motives.

"Someone" who is very powerful probably said," If the cops come looking for you your a dead man, because that means you didn't do your job". He just decided not to have to live in fear of when it would happen and someone takes him out. I too think that maybe there might be something to the Quaids talking about a Star Wacker.

I'm throwing down the BS card.. this seems like a total cover-up fallguy type deal. We're smarter than this. There's a lot more to this story.. I pray the WHOLE TRUTH come out about this poor woman's MURDER.
